I believe . . .
  1. that the Bible is inspired by the Holy Spirit to be the unique and authoritative witness to Jesus Christ in the Church (2 Timothy 3:15-17).
  2. in one God, eternally existent in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19).
  3. in Jesus Christ, the only-begotten Son of God, born of the virgin Mary, who lived a sinless life and suffered and died for our sins (Matthew 1:23; John 1:14; Hebrews 4:15; Philippians 2:5-8; 1 Corinthians 15:3).
  4. in the bodily resurrection of Christ, his ascension, and his soon return to judge the living and the dead (1 Corinthians 15:4; Acts 1:9-11; Acts 17:31).
  5. that Christ calls all people, through the preaching of his Word, to repent, believe and receive forgiveness for their sin (John 1:12; John 14:6; Acts 2:38; Acts 4:12; Acts 16:31).
  6. that the present ministry of the Holy Spirit is essential to living a vital Christian life. I believe the Holy Spirit daily fills those who believe in him, as they submit themselves in obedience to Christ. As the Spirit fills those who believe in him, he empowers them to do his work in the world (Acts 4:31; Galatians 5:16-18; Ephesians 5:18).
  7. in the holy, universal Church. I believe that active participation in the visible Church is essential to growth in the Christian life (1 Corinthians 12:12, 27-28; Ephesians 1:22-23; Ephesians 2:19-22).
  8. that upon death the souls of those who trust in Christ go immediately to be with him (Luke 23:43; 2 Corinthians 5:8) and that the bodies of believers will be raised again at Christ's Second Coming (1 Corinthians 15:51-57).
  9. that the ministry of evangelism is a vital responsibility of both the Church and each Christian (Matthew 28:18-20; Acts 1:8; Romans 10:9-15; 1 Peter 3:15).
